Launceston Male Voice Choir 2025 Review

This is the Choir’s 56th year, and what a successful year it was. The membership now over 50 strong, and five new choirmen during 2025. Joint concerts with three other Cornish Choirs -Nankersey, Kerrier and Tamar Valley, a ‘return’ concert with the Ladies GraceNotes choir in Saltash. Two memorable concerts celebrating special Chapel Anniversaries at Halwill and Holsworthy, five visits to local care homes, singing for the Memory Café at their Christmas event , taking a lead again with the Launceston Remembrance Day Parade, and a great ‘fun’ concert supporting the Riding for the Disabled. To say nothing about singing in the rain at Launceston Show ! Add to that a fantastic March weekend tour when the Choir sang again at the Mint Church in Exeter and in the Torquay Central Methodist Church.

During the year over £2000 has been donated from the proceeds of concerts to our own charity – Children’s Hospice South West and the Cornwall Air Ambulance. Not forgetting the wonderful concert where a further £1500 was raised. organised by David Risdon at Tetcott for the Devon Air Ambulance.

Another milestone this year was that Brian Trewin was presented with his certificate for 25 years Choir membership during the joint concert with Burraton at the Callington Chapel Anniversary in November.

The year was however tinged with sadness as the Choir also sang at the Memorial Service for Leighton Daniel, and at the funeral of Dennis Coumbe, both of whom had been loyal and long serving choir members.

The 2026 concert book is ‘as full as it can be’ for now, a weekend away for Choir and supporters planned for September – and even an event booked already for 2027.
